Dear {name},

Congratulations! You signed up for classes at Immortal Dragon. This is the first step to get your martial arts journey going. To set you up for success, here is a small list of things to consider and be aware of when being a part of Immortal Dragon.

At Immortal Dragon, we not only teach martial arts but values and habits. One of the main goals is to empower you to do great things in life. The longer you train the more assertive, physically strong, disciplined you will become, and on the way learn how to defend yourself.

This is an introduction with some points to support each other on this journey.

  1. Please ensure you follow the etiquette of the kwoon (school):
    1. Be on time! If your class starts at 6 PM, be there at 5:45 PM.
    2. Bow when you enter the school.
    3. Don’t chat during class.
    4. Come to all classes to get the full learning experience.
    5. Practice your forms at home.
  2. Kung Fu is hard! And most of the time the classes are no joke. Keep it up! Keep coming. Keep learning. Don’t give up! If you feel like not coming or are not motivated, talk to Sifu Matthias.
  3. Remember, we all have different levels of comfort and learning styles and paces. Be respectful about that and always encourage others. Keep it positive!
  4. Safety is everything. Kung Fu is a martial art and sometimes things happen. We take care of each other and be careful but when sparring things can happen!
  5. Whenever something important happens, please let Sifu Matthias know, so we can celebrate it together. :)
  6. Be on time. Again! That means be there at least 5-10 minutes before the class starts so you can get ready for class and change if necessary. It is disrespectful to the instructors and to your classmates to disrupt them.
  7. Help keep our school clean! At the end of each class, we sweep and mop the floor where we trained. Once a week, the whole school should be cleaned.
  8. Be curious! It’s always good to be curious. Ask questions either to Sifu or any instructor. Especially, when we have Q&A classes or moments during class.
  9. Come to class! If you feel sick or have an injury, as long as it’s not contagious, come to class. Sifu will give you something else to do or might treat you. Either way, most of the time it’s better to be in class than not.
  10. If you are worried or have any questions about anything going on in the school, feel free to ask Sifu Matthias for some orientation or clarification.

Let’s get you moving! Practice, smile, and have fun!

Immortal Dragon Vancouver

Dear {name},

Congratulations! You signed your kid up for classes at Immortal Dragon. This shows how much you care about them and their development and growth. Now, let’s work together to get your kid the best experience and learning situation possible.

At Immortal Dragon, we not only teach martial arts but values and with your help, we can achieve great things. The main goal is to empower the little dragons to do great things in life. They will get more assertive, physically stronger, learn more discipline, respect others, and how to defend themselves.

This is an introduction with some points to support each other on this journey.

  1. Encourage the kids to practice at home. But don’t make it an obligation, it should be fun.
  2. Don’t intervene in the class. It is important for the teacher-student relationship that they learn to listen to the instructor. In order to learn discipline means to follow the school’s protocols.
  3. Kung Fu is hard! Still, it is fun. :) Let’s always stay positive with the kids and encourage their process be it fast or slow. Remember, we all have different levels of comfort and learning styles and paces.
  4. Safety is everything. Kung Fu is a martial art and sometimes things happen. That said, as a school, we ensure you always have the kids' safety first in mind.
  5. Once a month, we will have a class with kids and adults together so they can share their progress with you. Be there!
  6. Whenever something important happens, please let Sifu Matthias know, so he can celebrate it, or help to motivate and create a safe space for them.
  7. Be on time. That means be there at least 5-10 minutes before the class starts so the children can get ready for class and comfort. Often they play with their class friends.
  8. Every student (feel free to follow that example) should bow when entering the school. This happens out of respect but also because the school is not a normal space.
  9. On or near the shrine, there will be a jar with sweets and so on to share with the kids. Help us to keep it full! :)
  10. If you are worried or have any questions about anything going on in the school, feel free to ask Sifu Matthias for some orientation or clarification.

Let’s get your kids moving and help them to be the amazing human beings they are!

Sifu Matthias
